Adams LeatherWorks (ALW) is family-owned and operated in the great state of Texas. We have no storefront -- everything we make is produced in a small corner of a 2-car garage. We are located just outside of Aubrey, TX -- north of the DFW Metroplex.
This RUclips channel was created to help others like myself learn more about the art and craft of making custom leather holsters for fun and profit. We hope you enjoy watching our videos!

Making a LINED IWB Mag Pouch - Springfield EMP & 1911 Mags
This video shows how I made a lined IWB (Inside the Waistband) mag pouch for the Springfield EMP & standard sized 1911 .45 ACP magazine. This is the third of four videos I made of a batch of gear for Atomic Cowboy - a new eyewear company. The leather is 3-4 ounce Herman Oak, dyed with Fiebing's Pro Saddle Tan and Dark Brown, sewn with 277 natural colored bonded nylon thread, edges polished with Tokenole, and sealed with Fiebing's Resolene (diluted 1:1 with water).
If you'd like to pick up a small batch of hardware to build your own mag pouch like this one, I have a package of snap components available on my website:

Making a Car Pistol Holster for my Center Console
Просмотров 27 тыс.2 года назад
I show how to make a car pistol holster for the center console of my vehicle. I've had this idea floating around in my head, and while it may not be the best car holster for everyone, it worked perfectly for my needs and it's an idea I've been wanting to try for a while. I didn't want anything permanently installed in my vehicle since I'll probably be replacing it (the vehicle) soon and don't w...

DIY Leather Stamp Plates for Embossing and Debossing with your laser engraver is very easy. I made my custom leather stamp debossing plates from 1/8" cast acrylic on my Bescutter Versa 52" x 36" 150W CO2 laser. The first pass was set to "Ramp" engrave with a speed of 250 mm/s and a Min/Max power of 15/40 percent. The cleanup pass was done with a speed of 350 mm/s and Min/Max power set to 15/15 ...

Burning Leather and Making a Journal Cover!

I made a leather journal cover for the Leuchtturm1917 Medium A5 using oil tan pull up leather I purchased last year on a Black Friday sale at Springfield Leather. I start off by quickly sketching the basic design, then I roughed out the pattern before (off camera) refining the pattern in Adobe Illustrator. Then I cut out the design on my laser cutter and assembled the project. This was a really...

Making a Field Style Gun Holster - Springfield XD-M 4.5" 10mm

This was my first attempt at making a field style leather gun holster. For this Springfield XD-M 4.5" 10mm holster, I used two layers of 3-4 ounce Wickett & Craig vegetable tanned leather and bonded nylon thread. If you didn't want to line the holster, I'd recommend a single layer of 7-8 ounce leather for the body. I begin the video by demonstrating my process for creating the pattern, and then...

Leather Burnishing with Pro Edge Burnishers
So You still making these beauties?
Nice to see someone concentrate on the pattern. So important! I learned by watching beginners filming. Ended up making tons of mistakes by following someone who's just learning instead of experienced leather workers.
Thank you for the video! I've recently taken an interest in developing some kydex holsters. Your craftsmanship is on another level!! Watching you form that steel reinforcement by hand blew my mind! I thought "Oh man, he just eyeballed it and went for it!" Clearly, you have done that a few times! It's really enjoyable to watch.
Well, now you know you can definitely make a revolver holster! You should be proud of that work!!
TOP 👍👍
Love the click at the end when you holster the dummy gun! Very well done, that’s a perfect holster. I prefer these summer special style holsters as for me they are the most comfortable even with full size guns.
Inspiring craftsmanship, hats of to you sir! Kind regards from Europe :-)
Great video
😊nice
Why is it that my leather will bleed dye when I soak it to wet form even after 2 days of drying and yours looked fine?
I use Fiebings Pro dye. What kind are you using? What part is bleeding, the edges?
@@AdamsLeatherWorks I'm using the same one. Idk what part exactly is bleeding, I think it's basically the whole project.
Are you dip dying the leather, or using a dauber, or airbrush? I only use an airbrush, and have never had good experience with dipping. When I airbrush, I generally spray about 4 coats.
@@AdamsLeatherWorks I usually use a cotton dauber or a small foam brush.
I usually use a cotton dauber or a small foam brush.
❤ Awesome job, man!!! I'm totally drooling over the holster!! Two questions: How much for you to make me one for my Taurus 856 .38 special and isn't the 605 the same with the 357, and it also fires the .38 special ammo. They look the same at least!! 😅 and now for my 2nd question: I have a couple of leather holsters that are wet formed for different pistols, so can I heat the water and reform the leather to the new pistol. Well, thanks, man!!! And good luck in the future!!!! 🎉
love the video but I wish it had been shown in use to get the full picture. That aside though, great design, craftsmanship, and lesson
I've made 2 of these using this video about 5 years ago and they look brand new still!. And now I'm about to make another for my son's first handgun who's in the Army. I give all the credit to you. Makes me feel good that he wanted one made for him ❤
That is so cool! Thank you for taking the time to comment, and glad the video was helpful!
very nice
Great job. Question, could I leave a real gun while it dries, but wrapped in clean wrap?
Personally, I wouldn’t leave a real gun inside a damp holster any longer get than necessary. The don’t trust getting all the openings in the cling wrap completely sealed up.
@@AdamsLeatherWorks Yeah I thought about that too. What do you recommend for making a leather holster without the physical gun, but knowing the measurements? The thing is that my uncle lives in Georgia and I live in Puerto Rico. So I’m a bit far off.
If you can buy a mold, that’s your best bet. www.knifekits.com/vcom/holster-making-moldsprops-c-585.html Otherwise, just oil the gun before forming the holster. Then remove the gun after forming and let the holster air dry in front of a fan. Then immediately field strip the gun after forming and dry and oil it again. That’s what I do with my personal guns if I don’t have a mold.
Question what class sewing machine do you use and what is your centerfoot attachment. I have class 4 and your center foot looks more stout
Class 4 with the feet it came with.
Absolutely beautiful holster!
Spot - on work , I see it 4 yrs late. just some in prints in white leaver & little white stitching to contrast , colours ? ( Only my opinion or my style ) Thanks....from U.K.
Tandy don’t have the best tools for high quality tools etc better look handmade tools Vs-tools, Palisanto, Sinabroks etc.
I haven't worried too much about putting a front sight channel in the holsters I've made. To each his own though. Thats a very nice holster and you made a great video also.
I dont get why people use paper then put it on leather if it's something you do all the time your not gonna mess it up and I have found that you need a little more leather than when it's on paper and your doing 2x the work
Please do more videos !!!!
On this blue gun did you cut the hammer off?
Yes, because it shipped hammer down (not cocked) with the safety off, if I remember correctly.
@@AdamsLeatherWorks Well great job on the holster. Ya ever hear of Urban Carry?
@@TheWinterWolf1895 I think I've seen ads for them, but not really familiar with their product line.
anti 2a nut: oh! it's the infamous "mag clip"! 👉🤯
Thanks!
No problem! Thank you for the support, and thanks for watching!
What caliber?
Just getting into holster making, this style of pattern making seems to alleviate a lot of headache. Great job!
I saw this video a couple years ago, and just rewatched it. If I were to make a similar one, i think I'd make the main body of the holster with the rough side out (inside out), and not dye it.
I love that the thumb snap is designed for cocked and locked carry
How can I order a holster
Loved that holster. I would like one just like that but for my Sig P 365. How do I contact you? Thanks
I love your work. And each video
Nice can you make one for a Kimber ultra carry ii 45 acp raptor? And if so how much 💰
Thanks!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
That came out beautiful ! :)
He is the Master Best regrads from germany
👍🏻🤠
That was amazing. Wonderful job
Did you buy a 20,000.00 USD laser printer?
Well yes, but it was $13,000 new, and I bought it used from a friend with a very steep discount (half price) because he needed it gone asap. I was only able to purchase it because I sold my previous laser for more than I bought it for (which I also bought used locally). Buy used, save big!
Хорош! Заморочился, профессиональный подход, я бы даже сказал научный ☝🏻🤠👍🏻
Very nice job! When I was growing up, my father used to tell me, if some else can do it, so can you. He was right, as usual! I’m very glad I listened. Best regards, Richard
beautiful, you are a true artist when it comes to making these leather holsters.
Super cool! Thank you for sharing, love your video!
Learning that sewing machine feels daunting!
They can be a little daunting. Just go slow and do lots of sewing on test pieces. Getting the tension set can be a pain. Sometimes I’d rather just hand sew thin stuff so I don’t have to change the tension.
I love the leather work and the time it takes for something like that is crazy.I’m not liking the strap that holds the firearm in it’s another obstacle added to a life or death situation.
For over 30 years I ran my gunsmithing operation. You make very high quality leather work..
Would this holster work for a Ruger LCP Max? 380
Im so glad i found your videos 😮❤super! Greetings from Norway Alf
If I wanted to make a similar holster, (OWB Snap-on) I would obviously need to add space for the straps and snaps alongside the outline of the pistol. To determine the stitch lines can I measure the same way with a strip of lining inside the holster leather?
Thank you for showing the design process - this is extremely helpful.
